Principal's Message

Dear Families,

It’s hard to believe we are already nearing the end of term. It has been a big and productive term, and I want to thank you all for your continued support throughout what has been a very busy start to the year.

A quick reminder that the last day of term is next Thursday 2nd April at 2:30pm. I will send a further update shortly with details for the day, including the time for our final assembly for the term.

Building works update

There is still plenty happening behind the scenes with our buildings and grounds. We are currently awaiting approval from the Victorian School Building Authority (VSBA) to complete the resurfacing and line marking of the basketball court.

We are also preparing for the polishing of the concrete in the breezeway, which will really lift the space and give it a fresh, new look. In addition, we are expecting the installation of our new drinking taps (bubblers), which should take place over the holiday break.

You may have noticed the large concrete pipes around the school. I have asked the VSBA to cut these into thirds and relocate them so we can repurpose them as planter pots — I’m looking forward to seeing how these can enhance our outdoor spaces.

As always, we have tried to schedule as much of this work as possible during the upcoming holidays to minimise disruption to teaching and learning.

Check your contact information is up to date!

Please check that your contact details and home address are up to date on Compass and update them if necessary. This is especially important if you are a Year 6 parent - as you will be receiving Year 6-7 Transition information shortly and this relies on current details. ie: Home address, parent email addresses and mobile numbers.

School Council

Congratulations to our newest members of School Council, and in particular to Laura Dale on taking on the role of President.

School Council plays a vital role in supporting the work of the school. It provides a strong connection between the school and the community, supports strategic direction, and ensures that decisions are made with the best interests of students at the centre. Our School Council works in partnership with leadership to support planning, resourcing and the ongoing improvement of our school.

We are very fortunate to have such a committed and supportive group of people working alongside us.

Student leadership

Last week, our school captains attended the YHAA Leadership Conference. It was a fantastic opportunity for them to connect with other student leaders, with over 2000 students from across the state in attendance.

They learned a great deal about leadership, teamwork and responsibility, and also had the chance to build new friendships. I look forward to them sharing more about their experience in the next newsletter, where we will include an update from their perspective.

Farmers’ Market

A reminder that our Farmers’ Market is on this Saturday. This long-standing community event is an important part of EBPS, bringing families and the wider community together while also raising valuable funds to support programs such as our Kitchen Garden and other school initiatives.

We are still looking for volunteers to help on the day. Even a small amount of time can make a big difference. If you are able to assist, please contact the school office and we will connect you with the organising team or you can email Heidi directly on heidi.nankervis@education.vic.gov.au
Your support is greatly appreciated.

*These events are also included in our Compass calendar.

That’s all from me this week. I hope you have a lovely end to the term, and I look forward to sharing more updates with you soon.
Don't forget to buy your raffle tickets for the chocolate hampers! Prizes being drawn at the Bonnet Parade (9am) on the last day of term.

Warmest regards,
Sarah Spence
Principal

REMINDER - school drop off times

We have noticed several students arriving at school very early and waiting unsupervised.

Please be aware that staff supervision does not begin until 8:45am.

Students should not be on school grounds before 8:45am unless they are with a parent or carer.

The exception is our Breakfast Club which starts at 8:15am and is a supervised space where students can enjoy some breakfast and start the day calmly before class. Students attending Breakfast Club are welcome to arrive for this program, but must stay in the PAC.

Thank you for your support in helping us ensure the safety of all students.
