Principal's Message

Dear wonderful EBPS community,

It’s hard to believe we’re already in Week 7 of Term 4! There’s a real buzz in the air as we move into the final stretch of the year. Classrooms are alive with activity, performances are in full swing, and the countdown is on to some of our most special end-of-year traditions. There’s still so much to look forward to, including Class 6 Graduation, more class plays, special assemblies, and of course, the fun of the Colour Run!

Staffing and Classes for 2026

I want to thank you all for your patience and understanding as we work behind the scenes to finalise our staffing and class structure for 2026. As you may know, this time of year brings some natural movement across all schools, and we're still navigating a few shifts. I’ve spoken to our staff about where they are likely to be next year, but we can’t confirm anything with families just yet. As soon as I can, I’ll let you know all the details.

Welcome, 2026 Preps!

A huge congratulations to our 2026 Preps, who completed their second transition session on Friday! They showed so much courage and excitement, exploring their new learning environment with confidence. I had the pleasure of meeting many parents as well, and it was a joy to welcome them into our EBPS family. We’re so looking forward to having our new families officially join us next year.

Performances and Plays Galore

What a creative few weeks we’ve had! Our students have dazzled us with a number of performances — from French plays and class productions to fabulous music. I continue to be blown away by their confidence, courage, and collaboration. Thank you to the staff who support our young performers, and well done to the students who light up the stage with joy and heart. You are all such a credit to our school!

Playground Rebuild News

Some exciting news — we’ve finally received approval to rebuild our school playground! This has been a long time coming, and I’m thrilled we can now begin the rebuild process in earnest. Thank you for bearing with us through the delays. We’re committed to creating beautiful, engaging spaces for your children to learn and play, and this is another step in that journey.

Fresh New Newsletter Format Coming in 2025

Next year we’ll be launching a fresh new look for our school newsletter! We’ll be including class updates, samples of student work, staff spotlights and more. We’re also planning to finally launch our long-awaited EBPS video podcast — a fun and creative way to bring more of our school into your homes. Stay tuned!

PLEASE NOTE THE CALENDAR FUNCTION IN COMPASS ALSO HAS ALL THE FOLLOWING KEYS DATES

Please note - you can ALSO view the latest School Calendar at any time on Compass - you can choose to view it by day, week, month or term and also choose what you want to include by clicking on the layers you want to view, ie: School Events, Public Holidays etc.

The end of the year can be both joyful and full-on — so please look after yourselves and each other. Whether you're a parent, carer, student or staff member, your wellbeing matters. Let’s support one another to finish the year with strength, celebration and warmth.

As always, my door is open.

Warm regards,
Sarah Spence
Principal, East Bentleigh Primary School
