Principal's Message

Dear Families,

With Term 4 well underway, the energy around EBPS is palpable. The weather is (mostly) warming, our yard is buzzing with outdoor activity, and there's an undercurrent of excitement as we approach the final stretch of the school year. There’s so much happening — from class plays and music performances, to curriculum planning, colour runs, and graduation prep. It’s a great time to be part of the EBPS community!

The Importance of Grit

As we near the year’s end, we begin to see that beautiful quality emerge in our students — grit. The ability to keep going when it gets hard, to stay focused, and to finish what you start. This kind of resilience isn’t just about persistence — it’s about building strength of character and self-belief.

Angela Duckworth, who popularised the concept of grit in education, says:
“Grit is passion and sustained persistence applied toward long-term achievement.”

Term 4 is the perfect time to talk with your child about finishing strong — whether it’s in learning, friendships, projects, or their own personal goals. At EBPS, we celebrate growth just as much as achievement.

Upcoming Class Plays

Our classrooms are alive with rehearsals, costume planning, and script work as our Class Plays start to take centre stage this term. These performances are a treasured part of our school culture — giving students a chance to express themselves, work as a team, and share their learning in creative, often deeply meaningful ways.

Next week, we’re looking forward to watching the Steiner Class 6 play, and we can’t wait to see the culmination of their hard work. Families — keep your eye out for class-specific communication about performance times and details.

Music Performance – Good Luck!

As I write this, our 2025 Music Concert is set to begin later this afternoon at 4pm. Year 3 to 6 Steiner students have been rehearsing with passion and care — thank you to our music team and staff for all your support in preparing this showcase. I’ll report more on how it all went in our next newsletter — but for now, best of luck to all our wonderful performers!

Planning for 2026

Across the school, there is lots of behind-the-scenes work happening as we continue planning for 2026. With enrolments growing and some natural staff movement across the system, we’re still finalising classes and teaching allocations for next year.

Thank you for your patience and understanding — I will share confirmed information with families as soon as we are in a position to do so. Please know that our goal is always to create strong, balanced groupings and provide the best possible experience for students and staff alike.

Colour Run Returns!

We’re thrilled to confirm that the Colour Run is coming back this term — and it’s going to be just as vibrant and joyful as last year’s event! Students had an absolute blast in 2024, and we’re excited to bring that fun back on Friday 28th November.

Information has been sent home already, so please keep an eye out and make sure you’ve read through the details. It’s one of our favourite events of the year — filled with colour, laughter, and community spirit.

Drop-Off Reminder – Supervision Begins at 8:45am

A gentle reminder to families that students should not be dropped off at school before 8:45am, unless they are attending Breakfast Club, which opens from 8:15am. We want to ensure your child is safe and supervised, and staff are only on yard duty from 8:45am.
**It is also very important to note that the Staff Car Park not be used for student drop off or pick up**
Thanks for your support in helping us keep all students safe and cared for during the day.

Congratulations Llewelyn & the Victorian Rugby League team

Llewelyn (5A) recently represented Victoria and participated in the Australian Schools Rugby League competition in Ballarat. The Victorian team played some excellent rugby coming in 5th overall, with Llewelyn scoring two valuable tries in both wins.
Whilst in Ballarat, the team visited Sovereign Hill and the Eureka Centre where they learnt about the battle of the Eureka Stockade and where the original Eureka flag is displayed in all its glory. They made some great new friendships and memories that will last a lifetime - including walking out in front of 2900 people at the opening ceremony, with state politicians and current Olympians also present!

**PLEASE NOTE THE CALENDAR FUNCTION IN COMPASS ALSO HAS ALL THE FOLLOWING KEYS DATES**

Please note - you can ALSO view the latest School Calendar at any time on Compass - you can choose to view it by day, week, month or term and also choose what you want to include by clicking on the layers you want to view, ie: School Events, Public Holidays etc.

As always, my door is open.

Sarah Spence
