East Bentleigh Primary School acknowledges the traditional owners of the land on which we work and learn, the Boon Wurrung people. We pay respect to their elders, past, present and future for they hold the memories, traditions, cultures and hopes of Aboriginal Australia.
Dear Families,
It’s hard to believe we are already heading into the second half of Term 4! The sun is shining, energy is high, and the school is buzzing with activity. From rehearsals and performances to exciting curriculum projects and the final preparations for Class 6 graduation, there is a real sense of momentum as we begin the final chapter of the school year. Term 4 is a special time—it’s when we see students consolidating their learning, growing their independence, and really taking pride in their achievements. There is still so much to look forward to, and we can’t wait to share it with you.
Planning for 2026
As with all schools, Term 4 brings with it the work of staffing and planning for the year ahead. We are currently deep in the process of shaping what 2026 will look like at EBPS. While I have spoken with staff about their likely placements, it’s important to note that staffing across the system is still fluid, with movement between schools continuing into the later part of the term. I understand families are eager to know class placements, and I will share that information as soon as it becomes available. Thank you for your understanding as we work to get it right for all students and staff.
School Song Launch
At last week’s assembly, we were thrilled to launch our very own EBPS School Song, written and performed by our incredibly talented Music Coordinator, Mia, and supported by our enthusiastic School Captains. The song beautifully reflects our four school values—Kindness, Teamwork, Respect, and Perseverance—and our motto:
Grow with Kindness, Rise up with Teamwork, Offer Respect, Work with Perseverance. (That’s right—GROW!)
These guiding principles are at the heart of our newly launched SWPBS framework. We know that when values and expectations are embedded across all aspects of school life, students feel safer, more engaged, and more successful. I look forward to sharing the song with families soon and hope that in time it becomes something all students proudly sing at assembly.
Maths Challenge Day
Last week, a group of our students represented EBPS at the Maths Day hosted by Coatesville Primary School. They worked collaboratively through complex mathematical challenges and games, and thoroughly enjoyed the experience. It was wonderful to see them engaging with students from other schools, building confidence and extending their thinking. Congratulations to our participants—you did us proud!

Building Works Update
Our Phase 2 building works are now underway, and I’ll continue to provide updates as we move through this exciting chapter. This phase includes critical upgrades to our sewerage, taps, and pathways—work that will ensure the school remains safe, functional, and future-ready. I am incredibly grateful for the funding and support we have received so far (approaching $900,000) and will keep advocating strongly to ensure the final stages of our vision are realised.
A Visit from Nick Staikos MP
We were delighted to welcome our local State Member for Bentleigh, Nick Staikos, to EBPS recently. Nick visited to see firsthand the improvements we've made through our capital works and discuss how he can support us moving forward. Class 5A created a beautiful thank-you card which was presented to Nick on the day—he was genuinely touched by the students’ gesture. Thank you, Nick, for your ongoing support of our school and community.
The Power of Perseverance
This week I want to highlight the value of Perseverance, one of our four core values. As the term moves quickly towards its close, students can begin to feel tired or overwhelmed—but these are the very moments where perseverance matters most. Learning isn’t always easy, but when we support children to push through challenges, we build resilience and confidence that lasts well beyond primary school. Whether it’s finishing a tricky maths task, rehearsing for a performance, or sticking with a project until the end—every act of persistence counts. Let’s continue to model and celebrate this important life skill.
