Dear Families,
It’s hard to believe we’re already in Week 7 of Term 3! This time of year is often where we see students hit their stride — routines are strong, learning is deepening, and the community spirit is in full swing.
Over the past fortnight, we’ve enjoyed moments of celebration, learning, creativity, and connection. From the buzz of Sports Day to the thoughtfulness of Book Week dress-ups, our school continues to be a place of joyful learning and strong values.
Building Works – Phase One Complete!
We’re excited to share that Phase One of our building upgrades has been completed. Our refurbished classrooms are now back in action and looking fresh, functional, and ready for rich learning experiences.
Phase Two is due to begin shortly, and we’ll keep you updated as this next stage progresses. We are still awaiting timelines for our playground redevelopment, and I appreciate your continued patience — as always, we’ll share updates as soon as we have them.
Thank you for your support as we work to create the best possible facilities for our children to learn, grow, and thrive.
Wildlife Exposure Incursion – Up Close with Nature
This week we welcomed the fantastic team from Wildlife Exposure for an unforgettable incursion. Students engaged in an interactive presentation where they met an array of fascinating Australian animals and learned about their habitats, behaviours, and conservation.
The highlight for many was getting up close — and even holding a giant python! Experiences like these spark curiosity and help deepen our connection with the natural world.
Father’s Day Craft Sessions – Thank You PCFA!
A BIG thank you to our wonderful PCFA for running our Father’s Day Craft sessions. Students had the opportunity to create thoughtful, handmade gifts for their dads or special people, and the smiles and creativity on display were heartwarming.
We are deeply grateful for our volunteers — their time and effort help make these experiences possible. Our students are lucky to have such a supportive community around them.
SWPBS & School Values Work
Over the past weeks, we’ve continued our important work reviewing our school values and expectations through the lens of School-Wide Positive Behaviour Support (SWPBS). This process involves staff, students, and soon, families — and aims to ensure our values reflect who we are and what we stand for at EBPS.
As a previous SWPBS Coach, I know how crucial it is for schools to define, teach, and model clear expectations. This creates not only a safe and respectful environment but also helps students thrive socially, emotionally and academically.
We’re in the final stages finalising our School Values and Expectations - we will keep you posted!
Book Week – Celebration of Reading
Thank you to all students and families for making Book Week Dress-Up Day such a success! It was wonderful to see so many creative, funny, and thoughtful costumes that brought beloved book characters to life.
Our morning parade was full of joy, colour, and a shared love of stories. Reading remains one of the most powerful tools for learning — it builds imagination, empathy, vocabulary, and critical thinking. Please continue to encourage your children to reach for a book every day.
Please note - you can ALSO view the latest School Calendar at any time on Compass - you can choose to view it by day, week, month or term and also choose what you want to include by clicking on the layers you want to view, ie: School Events, Public Holidays etc.
Look for this icon on Compass.
As always, thank you for your continued support, trust, and involvement in the life of our school. East Bentleigh Primary School is the vibrant, warm, and values-driven community it is because of you.
Warm regards,
Sarah Spence
Principal, East Bentleigh Primary School
In a change to our Fathers/Special Persons Day events this year, we held a series of workshops instead of our usual stall. Each class took part in a workshop to create a personalised gift for the Dad or special person in their life. I hope the gifts are appreciated as every student put a lot of effort into their creations. We would welcome any feedback on change, please send any thoughts through to ebps.pcfa@gmail.com as this will help us improve any events in the future.
Thank you to the volunteers, teachers and school leadership for helping create and co-ordinate this event.
While there were many volunteers that helped, it is important to recognise all of them individually as any contribution is always a big help towards the success of events.
Many thanks go to the following people
And all the workshop volunteers Karina (2I), Katie (PA), Steph (2ER), Julia (2ER), Stacey (PA), Ksenia (2I), Dalia (5A), Shahar (3M), Sherry (PA), Mika (1D), Irina (2I), Mel (2I), Jess (2I), Sharlene (6), Kin (PA/4L), Nat (5A), Lenka (5A), Linda, Fiona (Prep M) and Ben.
If I have missed anyone please feel free to let me know as I would like to capture everyone!
Hopefully you have seen some posters around the school for our Pickets & Pavers fundraiser. This is a chance to make a lasting contribution to the school as we look to finish the outdoor learning classroom, create some landscaping, and help fence the prep play space.
This is an ongoing fundraiser while we finish all these spaces, but the first round is closing Friday 19th September, buy before then to ensure you paver or picket is in prime position!
Please see details in the flyer below and visit the Try Booking page here to participate.
We look forward to organising more exciting events for the students and families to build our school community throughout Term 4.
Anyone in the school community is welcome to join the PCFA, we would love to have as many people as possible, no matter whether your contribution is big or small, it’s all valuable!
Our next meeting is Wednesday 17th September at 2.30pm.
Please contact ebps.pcfa@gmail.com for any further information.
