Principal's Message

Dear Families,

A warm welcome back to Term 3! It’s been lovely to see our students return with bright smiles, fresh energy, and an eagerness to learn. There’s a special kind of spark that comes with the start of a new term — a sense of possibility and growth. As the writer Edith Lovejoy Pierce once said, “We will open the book. Its pages are blank. We are going to put words on them ourselves.” Let’s make this a great chapter together.

We have a busy term ahead, with plenty of exciting learning experiences and school events. Please continue to check Compass and our weekly newsletter so you stay informed and up to date.

Gardens Looking Great!

You may have noticed how wonderful our gardens are looking — and it’s all thanks to our new gardener, Michael. He’s done a fantastic job tidying, pruning and breathing fresh life into the grounds. As he continues regular maintenance throughout the school, we’re sure you’ll agree that it’s made a real difference to the way our school feels. Thank you, Michael, for your care and green thumbs!

Parent-Teacher Interviews – Week 4

Our Parent-Teacher Interviews will be held in Week 4 of this term. I sincerely apologise that we were unable to provide earlier notice — we’ve been navigating a number of room changes and building works that needed to be settled before finalising plans.

More information will be sent out shortly. This term, you’ll notice that our conversations are more strongly focused on your child’s growth — celebrating their progress and looking at ways we can work together to support their learning going forward. We’re excited to share this journey with you.

Welcome Taylah – Garden Specialist

We’re delighted to welcome Taylah Voltan to our team this term as our new Garden Specialist. Taylah brings with her a passion for sustainability and hands-on learning, and she is excited to be working with our students to develop their knowledge, skills, and love for the natural world. We’re thrilled to have her join our school community and can’t wait to see the garden program bloom under her guidance.

School Fees Reminder

Your school fees directly support our students through resources, classroom materials, specialist programs, and building improvements. We are so appreciative to those who have already paid — thank you.

If you have any outstanding fees, we kindly ask that they be paid as soon as possible, unless you’ve already made a payment plan with me. We will be sending out reminder letters soon, but please feel free to get in touch if you’d like to discuss your payment options confidentially. Every contribution helps our school thrive.

Building Works Update

We’re pleased to share that several classes have now moved back into their newly refurbished rooms, and they look absolutely fantastic. Fresh paint, new fittings, and improved layouts are already making a difference for students and teachers alike.

Building works on the main building will continue for the next few weeks, with a projected completion within four weeks. We’re getting close! Thank you for your ongoing patience and understanding — we are committed to providing the best possible facilities for your children to learn and grow.

We’ll also keep you updated about the playground as soon as we have more information. We know students are eager to get back out there, and we appreciate your support while this work continues.

Thank you again for the part you play in making EBPS such a special place to be. Your care, encouragement, and partnership make all the difference. I’m looking forward to a wonderful term ahead, and as always, my door is open if you ever need to connect.

Warm regards,

Invitation : Curative Eurythmy sessions for parents & carers

You're Invited: Introduction to Curative Eurythmy – A 3-Session Parent & Carer Experience

We are delighted to offer all East Bentleigh Primary School community — whether part of our Steiner or mainstream streams — a special opportunity to participate in a three-session introduction to Curative Eurythmy, led by trained Curative Eurythmist Jenny Kuznetsova.

We are fortunate to be able to offer this to you free of charge!

Eurythmy is an expressive movement art developed as part of Steiner education. It brings together gesture, language, and music in a unique way that supports wellbeing, coordination, focus, and inner balance. For adults, it offers a reflective and embodied experience that many find calming, enriching, and revitalising.

These sessions are designed as a sequential series, meaning each session builds on the one before. For this reason, we kindly ask that participants commit to attending all three sessions to gain the full benefit of the experience.

Session details:

Day:        Thursdays – 23rd Oct, 30th Oct & 6th Nov
Time:      4:00–5:00pm
Where:   Performing Arts Centre, East Bentleigh Primary School

Please wear loose, comfortable clothing, and bring something warm if the weather is cool — movement will be gentle but active.

Places are limited, and we encourage early registration to avoid missing out.

Register here: https://forms.office.com/r/5U4sthvFne

** Please note that these sessions coincide with our Thursday market and as such we kindly ask to arrange for your children to be supervised by an adult if you are attending the classes.

We hope to see you there for this unique opportunity to experience Curative Eurythmy in a warm and welcoming group setting.

Warm regards,

Sarah Spence - Principal
