East Bentleigh Primary School acknowledges the traditional owners of the land on which we work and learn, the Boon Wurrung people. We pay respect to their elders, past, present and future for they hold the memories, traditions, cultures and hopes of Aboriginal Australia.
Dear Families,
We are now in Week 8 of Term 2, and what a term it has been! As we near the end of this longer term, it’s important for us all — students, staff, and families — to dig deep and show perseverance. This is the time to keep showing up, giving our best, and supporting each other. The cooler weather can certainly make it harder to get out the door in the morning, so let’s all try to stay warm and continue to bring positive energy into our school days.
Steiner Mid-Winter Festival – Thursday 19th June
We are excited to announce the upcoming Mid-Winter Festival, a treasured celebration in our Steiner program.
We warmly invite the children and families of our Prep to Year 4 students to join us for the Mid-Winter celebration on Thursday 19th June 2025.
The evening will commence with students participating in a giant spiral on the oval, followed by a beautiful lantern walk around the school grounds.
This magical event marks the seasonal shift and encourages quiet reflection, beauty, and community connection. We look forward to seeing you there.
Playground Safety Reminder
A reminder to all families and students to please stay well clear of the playground area currently fenced off. This area is under construction, and we are working hard to bring you a brand-new playground that will delight and challenge our students.
We’ll continue to keep you updated as much as possible regarding the timeline — we’re just as excited as you are!
Outdoor Learning Space – Building Underway
You may have noticed that new works have commenced near the BER building at the front of the school. We’re thrilled to share that this will become a dedicated outdoor learning space for students.
Outdoor learning spaces provide rich opportunities for inquiry-based and hands-on learning that engage students in real-world contexts. These environments foster curiosity, creativity, and critical thinking by allowing learners to explore, experiment, and interact with natural materials. In addition to supporting academic growth, outdoor learning promotes physical and emotional wellbeing, encourages active lifestyles, and nurtures a deeper sense of connection to the natural world. Such spaces also enhance social development through collaboration and teamwork, making them a vital part of a holistic education.
Please ensure children stay clear of construction areas for their safety. We’ll keep you updated on progress!
A huge thank you to Michelle Mather for overseeing this project and to the PCFA for raising all the funds needed. We are incredibly grateful to our wider community for your support in helping make this vision a reality.
Our School Value Focus – Respect
For the next few weeks, we are placing a special focus on one of our core values: RESPECT. Respect is a foundation for every thriving school community. It supports safety, builds trust, and allows learning to flourish.
According to the Australian Student Wellbeing Framework, a culture of respect leads to better behaviour, higher engagement, and improved academic outcomes. Respect is also one of the most commonly shared values across Australian schools.
We’ll be working with students to unpack what Respect looks like, sounds like, and feels like at EBPS — in the classroom, the yard, and beyond. Thank you for joining us in modelling and encouraging respectful interactions every day.
