East Bentleigh Primary School acknowledges the traditional owners of the land on which we work and learn, the Boon Wurrung people. We pay respect to their elders, past, present and future for they hold the memories, traditions, cultures and hopes of Aboriginal Australia.
Dear wonderful EBPS community,
As we move into the second half of Term 2, I’d like to take a moment to express my deepest gratitude for the many wonderful volunteers who support our school each week. Whether you're helping in classrooms, attending working bees, assisting at events, or simply lending a hand where it's needed — your contributions make a world of difference.
As the saying goes, "It takes a village to raise a child." Here at EBPS, we’re lucky to have a community of dedicated and generous individuals who go out of their way to support our students and staff. Your efforts do not go unnoticed — thank you for being part of our village.
Just this week, for example, we had parents assisting in Irina’s class with woodworking — a fantastic example of the kind of meaningful support that happens regularly across our school. From helping with reading groups, craft activities, or gardening, to supporting behind the scenes at events, our volunteers bring so much to our school environment.
Building Works Have Begun – Main Building
The long-awaited building works on our main building have now begun — hooray!
You may notice areas around the main building are now cordoned off with temporary fencing and signage. Please remind students to stay well clear of the construction areas at all times. Safety is our top priority, and we are working closely with contractors to ensure minimal disruption to learning while maintaining the highest safety standards.
These works are part of our long-term plan to upgrade and improve our school facilities so that our students have access to the best possible learning environment. Thank you for your flexibility and patience as we work through this period of change together.
A quick reminder that Andrea and Aric’s classes are now located at the end of the BER where the junior library was, and Lee’s class has moved opposite Melinda’s room at the other end of the main building. A big thank you to all the staff and helpers who supported this smooth transition.
Health and Hygiene Reminder
As we move through the colder months, it’s important to continue supporting healthy habits at school. We kindly ask families to remind children about the importance of hand hygiene — especially washing hands after using the bathroom and before eating.
Good hand hygiene helps prevent the spread of common seasonal bugs like Gastro and keeps our classrooms healthy and thriving. We are gently encouraging students at school as well, and appreciate your partnership in reinforcing these practices at home. As always, if your child is feeling unwell, please keep them home and reach out to us if you need support.
Thank You – Grade 5/6 Camp
A huge thank you to the staff who supported our Grade 5/6 Camp at Rumbug in Foster North!
Camps are such an important part of the primary school experience. They allow students to challenge themselves, build resilience, and create strong connections with their peers and teachers. Time away from home in a supportive, structured setting provides valuable life skills and unforgettable memories.
I've heard so many wonderful stories from students and families about the fun, learning, and camaraderie experienced at camp. Thank you again to the staff who made this possible — your time, energy, and care are deeply appreciated.
