Principal's Message

Dear Families,

As we reach the midpoint of Term 2, I’ve been delighted to spend time in classrooms and observe our students working together with such kindness and collaboration. It’s always heartening to see the way they support one another—whether it’s helping a friend understand a task, sharing materials, or simply encouraging each other. These moments reflect the strong values we nurture here at EBPS.

Being on Time to Class

A reminder to all families of the importance of being on time to class in the mornings. Even a few minutes late means missed learning time and disrupted routines. Those first moments of the school day are important for setting up a successful day of learning. If you’re having trouble getting your child to school on time, please don’t hesitate to reach out—we’re here to help.

Prompt Morning Drop-Off

We kindly ask that families drop students off promptly at their line up area by 8:50am. Our morning music begins at 8:50am and plays as a gentle reminder to students to finish getting ready, to line up to go into their classrooms and be prepared to begin the day.

It’s important that our teachers can start teaching promptly at 9:00am. Your support with a smooth and timely drop-off helps ensure a calm and consistent start for all students.

If your child is having difficulty saying goodbye at the start of the day, please speak with their classroom teacher—together we can work on strategies to support a positive start.

Book Fair Success

This week we hosted our annual Book Fair, and it was wonderful to see students excited about books and eager to read. Their enthusiasm was contagious, and the event created many opportunities for students to explore new stories and genres.

A huge thank you to Jane, who not only coordinated the Book Fair but continues to contribute so much to our school every day. Your energy and commitment are deeply appreciated!

Kinder Officially Commissioned!

We are absolutely thrilled to share that the newly refurbished Taraleigh Kindergarten has now been officially commissioned! This joyous milestone is the result of so much work behind the scenes, and we are delighted to now welcome families back into this beautiful new space.

The Kinder offers a warm and engaging learning environment that nurtures early development and lays strong foundations for the future. It is a significant step in our vision of supporting learners at EBPS. Congratulations to everyone involved!

Over the next week we will be preparing for our building works on our main building – I’ll keep you informed.

National Education Support Staff Day

Friday was National Education Support (ES) Staff Day, and we took the opportunity to celebrate and thank the amazing ES staff who are vital to the success of our school. From classroom support to administration, wellbeing, and specialist programs—our ES staff make a huge difference every single day.

To all of our wonderful ES staff: I am personally grateful for your dedication, your kindness, and your tireless efforts to support our students and our school community. Thank you for everything you do.

Welcome to Our New Music Coordinator – Mia!

We are very excited to welcome Mia, our new Music Coordinator, to East Bentleigh Primary School! Mia brings with her a passion for music education and a deep understanding of how music supports student learning, expression, and wellbeing.

She has already started working with students across the school and has received a warm welcome from staff and students alike. We’re thrilled to have Mia on board and look forward to the joy and creativity she will bring to our music program.

Invitation : Curative Eurythmy sessions for parents & carers

You're Invited: Introduction to Curative Eurythmy – A 3-Session Parent & Carer Experience

We are delighted to offer all East Bentleigh Primary School community — whether part of our Steiner or mainstream streams — a special opportunity to participate in a three-session introduction to Curative Eurythmy, led by trained Curative Eurythmist Jenny Kuznetsova.

We are fortunate to be able to offer this to you free of charge!

Eurythmy is an expressive movement art developed as part of Steiner education. It brings together gesture, language, and music in a unique way that supports wellbeing, coordination, focus, and inner balance. For adults, it offers a reflective and embodied experience that many find calming, enriching, and revitalising.

These sessions are designed as a sequential series, meaning each session builds on the one before. For this reason, we kindly ask that participants commit to attending all three sessions to gain the full benefit of the experience.

Session details:

Day:        Thursdays – 23rd Oct, 30th Oct & 6th Nov
Time:      4:00–5:00pm
Where:   Performing Arts Centre, East Bentleigh Primary School

Please wear loose, comfortable clothing, and bring something warm if the weather is cool — movement will be gentle but active.

Places are limited, and we encourage early registration to avoid missing out.

Register here: https://forms.office.com/r/5U4sthvFne

** Please note that these sessions coincide with our Thursday market and as such we kindly ask to arrange for your children to be supervised by an adult if you are attending the classes.

We hope to see you there for this unique opportunity to experience Curative Eurythmy in a warm and welcoming group setting.

Warm regards,

Sarah Spence - Principal
