Principal's Message

Dear Families and Community of EBPS,

It has been wonderful to see our students settling into the school year so well. Classrooms are buzzing with curiosity, engagement, and enthusiasm for learning. Watching students immerse themselves in their lessons, collaborate with peers, and grow in confidence each day is truly inspiring.

Education is a lifelong journey, and one of the greatest joys of working in a primary school is witnessing the excitement that comes with learning something new. As Nelson Mandela once said:

"Education is the most powerful weapon which you can use to change the world."

We are so proud of the way our students have embraced their learning this term and look forward to supporting them as they continue to explore, question, and grow.

The Value of Respect

At EBPS, respect is one of our core values, and it plays a vital role in creating a positive and inclusive learning environment. Respect is about treating others with kindness, listening to different perspectives, and valuing the people and spaces around us.

In a primary school, students show respect when they:

  • Listen when others are speaking
  • Use kind and inclusive language
  • Take care of school property and shared spaces
  • Follow school rules and teacher instructions
  • Treat their classmates and teachers with courtesy

Learning to be respectful is not just about school life - it is an essential skill that helps students build strong relationships, navigate the world with empathy, and become thoughtful, responsible citizens. Let’s continue to encourage respect in all we do!

Swimming Lessons (Grades 1-4) Are Starting Soon!

Our Grade 1-2 Swimming (7 Day) Program begins on Monday, 17th March, and Grade 3-4 Swimming (7 Day Program) starts on Wednesday, 26th March. We are excited for students to develop their confidence and skills in the water. Swimming is such an important life skill, and these lessons provide an opportunity for students to improve their water safety awareness in a supportive environment.

Please keep an eye on Compass for further details, including schedules and permission forms.

NAPLAN Is Coming Soon

The NAPLAN assessments will be taking place in the coming weeks, and we will be sharing important information with families as soon as possible. These assessments provide valuable insights into student learning and help us understand areas of strength as well as opportunities for further development.

We understand that NAPLAN can sometimes cause nerves for students, and we will ensure they feel supported and prepared. Stay tuned for further communication regarding dates and details.

Student Leadership and Student Voice

One of the great privileges of my role as Principal is working with our School Captains, and I have been incredibly impressed with their enthusiasm and commitment to making EBPS even better.

Today, when we met, we discussed how they will be leading work to include student voice and agency in as much of school life as possible. Giving students opportunities to express their ideas, contribute to decisions, and take on leadership roles fosters confidence, responsibility, and engagement in their learning.

I look forward to seeing the great ideas our School Captains and student leaders will bring to life this year, and I can’t wait to share more updates on their initiatives in future newsletters.

It’s been an exciting and productive start to the year, and I’m looking forward to all the wonderful things ahead. As always, my door is open, and I welcome conversations with families about any ideas or questions you may have.

Wishing you all a fantastic week!
