Bulletin 6th December 2024

No.5/T4-2024

Principal's Message

Hi families and community of EBPS,

I hope all of you are well and have exciting things to look forward to over the holiday break.

With two weeks to go, there are many celebrations and events happening at EBPS. Classes are finalising their plans to move rooms, students are finishing projects and performances, and we are in the midst of selecting our 2025 school leaders.

Step up day is Tuesday 10th December where students get a chance to be in their classes for 2025 for a short time. This is an important step in the transition to next year for your child and helps them become familiar with the changes they will experience.

Some students find change challenging, as do some adults, so please talk with your child about the changes they might face moving into next year.

Preparing for 2025 – tips for families

Helping your child transition to a new class or classroom can feel like a big step, but with the right support, it can be an exciting and positive experience. Here are some tips to help make the change smoother for both you and your child:

Stay Positive: Talk about the new class with excitement and positivity to help your child feel confident about the change.

Encourage Friendships: Talk about friends they’ll see or new ones they can make in their new class.

Build Independence: Practice routines they already know like packing their bag or organising their belongings to help them feel prepared.

Listen and Reassure: Let them share their feelings and remind them it’s okay to feel nervous—it’s a big step!

Celebrate Growth: Highlight their achievements this year and remind them they’re ready for this exciting new chapter.

Student Leadership Selection Process

We have been supporting students through the process of applying for our 2025 student leadership positions. I am very impressed with the quality of the applicants and the passion they have for our school. The student speeches all spoke of our school values, and how committed the students are to our school. This week Assistant Principal Michelle Mather and I met with students who have been shortlisted for School Captain positions, and interviewed them. They all spoke so enthusiastically and with vision for what they would like to achieve if they are successful in the role. Every student should be proud of their efforts in the process and how they presented themselves. Well done.

This coming Friday at our Assembly, School Captain positions for 2025 will be announced, and badges will be presented. Please come along and support our students if you can.

School Uniform

We have had a few students enquire about uniform for next year, and what is allowed and is not allowed.
School uniforms are a wonderful way to create a sense of community and belonging for children. They help reduce distractions and encourage a focus on learning, while also promoting equality by minimizing differences in what children wear. Uniforms make mornings simpler for families by taking the guesswork out of choosing outfits and can also foster school pride. Most importantly, they help children feel part of a team, united with their classmates as they grow and learn together.

You will find our Uniform Policy on our website. It can be accessed here: uniform_policy.pdf

And our uniform guidance here: Our Uniform

*Please note that if wearing leggings alone, they should be full length. If leggings are shorter, or bike shorts worn, they should be worn with another piece of clothing over them.

As always, my door is open, and I am happy to stop for a chat.

Have a wonderful weekend.

Kindest Regards,

Sarah Spence
