Book Fair – Thank you!
Jane and her team would like to thank all the parents/carers and students who visited the Book Fair during the week to make their purchases. Your support has helped raise just over $2,000.00 for the school to put towards purchasing more resources. It was such a huge success – we have planned another one for next year! Thank you one and all.
SPORTS REPORT - by John Seeary
Girls Hockey Report - State Finals
On Thursday 12th Septemebr, we ventured to Footscray Hockey Club to compete in the SSV State Hockey finals. This was the first time since 2013 that an EBPS team has been to the State finals .
The girls played Boort Primary in Round 1 and it was a tough battle. 0-0 at half-time with both teams having good chances. Alisia scored the opener after taking advantage of a quick free-hit. With 30 secs left Boort attacked and looked to have scored. Our Goal keeper hero Amanda saved the day to ensure we took the win 1-0.
Sadly the good times finished there. We took on Hamilton College in Round 2. They dominated the game from the start controlling the midfield and we couldn't cope with there high press. A 5-0 loss made the job of making the final almost impossible.
The final pool match against Yarra Primary followed a similar script. They were well drilled and took advantage of our mistakes taking a 4-0 lead to half-time. After a rev-up Annabelle scored early in the 2nd half before Yarra sealed the 6-1 with a couple of short corner goals.
Although disappointed it was an incredible achievement from the girls; a top 6 finish in the state.
Thanks to my assistant (Sue) and the parents for their encouragement and support throughout the campaign.
