Bulletin 15th February 2024

No.2/T1-2024

Principal's Message - Bulletin 15th Feb

Hello all,

We have warmly welcomed Taraleigh Pre-School to our school over the last 10 days. During the January holidays the Kinder was flooded and deemed uninhabitable until some minor works could be organised. We offered the Taraleigh Committee the use of our spare prep classroom until these works are completed by the VSBA and Make Safe. The transition to the school has been seamless, and it is lovely to see the 3 and 4-year-old children commencing their educational journey.

At the conclusion of the nomination period, there were 4 nominations for the 4 parent positions available.

Accordingly, the following parents were declared duly elected to the 2024-2026 East Bentleigh PS School Council.

Congratulations and thank you to:

These 4 parents will join Julia Kahan and Lisa Cleland who are in the middle of their 2-year term.  Our DE representatives for this year are Aaron Jones, Andrea Smith, and Michelle Mather. I thank everyone for their willingness to contribute to the ongoing growth of our school and look forward to working productively with you all.

Student Free Day- Tuesday 13th February- Berry Street Education Model - Refresher

For our new parents, the Berry Street Education Model (BSEM) provides strategies that enable teachers to increase the engagement of students with complex, unmet learning needs and to successfully improve all students’ self-regulation, relationships, wellbeing, and academic achievement. In today’s changing world, many school students encounter daily challenges that can impact their success at school. Despite best efforts and intentions, schools often require specialised strategies to address student needs for healing, growth, and achievement.

Our staff were engaged in a refresher, one day course, revisiting all the strategies to support students in the classroom. Our presenter – Doug - has offered to do a parent evening, which we will organise for later this term or early term 2.
