FANTASTIC NEWS!!! During the last few weeks of

Term 3 we had a call from Rob Hudson, (our local member),

who was pleased to advise us that we have been

successful in our application for a Stephanie

Alexander Kitchen Garden Grant. This grant

comprises $12,500.00 for infrastructure costs such

as refurbishing our canteen space into our new

‘kitchen’ and the establishment of our garden,

planned for the area at the end of our main

building. A further grant of $25,000.00 for the

next two years will go towards the cost of both a

garden and kitchen specialist who will take the

weekly classes.

This program will be a wonderful addition to our

curriculum programs here at East Bentleigh,

adding a real life context to much literacy and

numeracy learning.

The application process was an extremely rigorous

one and we owe a debt of gratitude to both Ellen

Regos and Rachel Carey who worked many long

hours to prepare our successful application. Thank

you to you both- and now the fun begins.
